A dancer at Star Garden who goes by the stage name Selena says the union drive was a difficult and often humiliating process. After a long fight, the owners finally recognized the union and have 30 days to start negotiating a contract with the dancers. OLMOS: In May, the club's 17 dancers voted unanimously to join the Actors' Equity Association, a union with 51,000 members representing actors and stage managers from Broadway to Walt Disney World. And even if people may find our job to be immoral, that doesn't mean we deserve to be unsafe. STONEY: We are workers, too, and we have a right to dignity and respect, same as any other worker. She says the stigma of stripping can prevent honest discussion about dancers' rights. A former stripper, now a lead organizer with Strippers United asked to be identified only by her stage name, Stoney, to protect her identity and safety. The dancers went on strike last year after organizers say their concerns about workplace safety, like customer harassment and poorly maintained stages, went unaddressed by management. SERGIO OLMOS, BYLINE: After 15 months of being on strike, strippers at the Star Garden Bar in North Hollywood are coming back to work soon but now under collective bargaining agreement. They are now the only unionized strippers in America, and advocates hope it'll inspire other strippers around the country to organize. His elite unit includes David “Deacon” Kay, an experienced SWAT officer who always puts the team first, despite feeling overlooked for the lead job Jim Street, a cocky but promising new member of the group Christina “Chris” Alonso, a skilled officer and the team’s canine trainer Dominique Luca, an expert driver who gets them in and out of high risk situations and Victor Tan, a relatively new SWAT officer who uses his confidential informants in the community to help the team. Torn between loyalty to where he was raised and allegiance to his brothers in blue, Hondo has everything it takes to be an excellent leader and bridge the divide between his two worlds. Ostensibly, the network is hoping SWAT 2017 will have the same success as Bull, which also took a well-loved CBS star from a flagship show and gave them their own series. CBS has also cast a bunch of familiar faces to popular SWAT season 1, including Jay Harrington (who just appeared on Suits as Donna’s ex-boyfriend) and Kenny Johnson ( Secrets & Lies). Dan “Hondo” Harrelson as a cop who’s not only got some ties to his community but also happens to be sleeping with his boss. Season 1, episode 1 is called “Pilot,” and it sets up the SWAT reboot with a few significant changes to the story. Ready for another CBS reboot?
